The near-monopoly status of Microsoft’s Windows operating system left Chinese companies with little room to bargain with the U.S. software giant, Red Flag CEO Chris Zhao said, which has driven increasing numbers of customers towards open-source operating systems, such as those made by Red Flag.
China’s Red Flag Software, which develops Linux-based operating system software , is expecting to see strong profit growth this year, the company’s chief executive, Chris Zhao, told XFN-Asia.
“I’m quite convinced this year we will achieve many times the profit compared with last year,” he said in an interview.
He declined to give a specific forecast but said that last year Red Flag booked a profit of about one million yuan (US$123,523) — the company’s first full year profit — four years after the company’s founding.
