Turbolinux Launches Live Internet TV Show

TV actor Megumi Fukushita will be a regular guest on Turbolinux’s show. Turbolinux said Fukushita’s personality contributes to the show’s “non-traditional and entertaining approach to IT.”

Turbolinux , a provider of Linux solutions, launched a live Internet TV show called “Turbolinux Penguin Channel” on Japan’s Atto Odoroku Web broadcasting station on January 18.

Every Wednesday at 7 p.m., PC users can tune into the Atto Odoroku Web broadcasting station to hear dubbing artist and narrator Yutaka Mizushima lead a discussion about IT and ways to improve the PC experience.

TV actor Megumi Fukushita will be a regular guest on the show.

LINUX VENDORS PARTNER TO FURTHER STANDARDS

Conectiva, Mandrakesoft, Progeny, and Turbolinux announce agreement to base products on common implementation of LSB 2.0.

Linux vendors from Europe, Asia, and North and South America have teamed up to create a common core implementation of the Linux Standard Base (LSB) 2.0. This implementation will serve as the core for each company’s future Linux distribution products. The Linux Core Consortium (LCC) has the backing of Linux supporters including Computer Associates, the Free Standards Group (FSG), HP, Novell, the Open Source Development Labs (OSDL), Red Hat, and Sun Microsystems.

TurboLinux releases server edition, adds security tools

Japan’s top Desktop Linux vendor TurboLinux has announced the availablity of its server offering based on kernel version 2.6.8. This latest release offers updated security features and targets small-to-medium businesses, governments, and academic institutions.
